Teppei Teranishi from the the band Thrice, was home for the Hollidays in Irvine, CA. "I was able to get an interview whith Teppei and here's what he had to say."
JUICY BANDS: How did you guys come up with the name Thrice?
Teppei: There is really no interesting story behind it whatsoever.
We basically needed a name. We were getting ready to play our first show. We thought it sounded mellow and funny. It just stuck.
JUICY BANDS: What was it like to go from an Independent label to a major record label?
Teppei: It worked out well, the label has been really supportive of all the decisions we've made. They've been backing us 100 percent and given us a lot of freedom.
JUICY BANDS: How did Island Records find out about Thrice and what was involved in getting signed with them?
Teppei: The guy who signed us Rob (from Island Records) , I'm not sure how he found out about us. He came to one of our shows way early on. Right after we put out first record in 2001 or 2002, it was a while ago. We met him then. After we put out our second record it grabbed the attention of a lot of major lablels. He came back and really wanted to sign us. It was this long drawing out process, but it was definitely worth it
JUICY BANDS: If you could pick one favorite song off your hit CD, The Artist and The Ambulance, what would it be?
Teppei: It's hard to say. I'm really proud of the last song on the record, 'Don't Tell Me and We Won't Ask,' I'm happy with the way it came together. It's probably one of the more together songs we've ever written, I think.
JUICY BANDS: Who produced the album and how did you go about getting them to produce it?
Teppei: Brian McTernan. He produced our last record "The Illusion of Safety." He is a really close friend of ours. we knew from the beginning we were going to work with him again.
JUICY BANDS: If you could play with any rock star past or present, alive or dead, Who would it be and why?
Teppei: I don't know there's so many people to pick from. I'll say Coldplay because I'm watching their DVD right now and it's amazing. Maybe Radiohead as well. They put one of the best shows i've ever seen.
JUICY BANDS: Is there anything you want to say to your fans?
Teppei: Thank you for coming out to our shows and buying our records.
JUICY BANDS: It was an awesome interview. Thanks for your time. Best of luck
Teppei: No problem it's been real, thanks for your time.
