SLAYER, AMON AMARTH, TRIVIUM Interview!

Hard rock metal bands, Slayer, Amon Amarth and Trivium recently took part in the "Unholy Alliance Chapter II" European tour and did a 12minute interview with Germany's Rock Hard Magazine; which can be viewed below. The UK portion of the "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" tour was co-headlined by SLAYER and TRIVIUM, with hard rock mainstay, SLAYER closing all shows. The mainland Europe portion was headlined by SLAYER, with TRIVIUM as their "special guest."

The SLAYER-headlined "Unholy Alliance Chapter II: Preaching To The Perverted" European tour took place in 2006. Other bands that took part in the tour included: IN FLAMES, LAMB OF GOD, CHILDREN OF BODOM and THINE EYES BLEED.

Tom Araya (SLAYER), Johan Hegg (AMON AMARTH) and Matt Heafy (TRIVIUM) took part in a joint interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine during the recently completed "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" European tour (which also featured MASTODON). Watch the 12-minute chat below.

SLAYER'S In The Studio Working On a Brand Spaikin' New Album!

Slayer recently announced on Blabbermouth.net that they're in the studio working on a brand spankin' new album.. The members of SLAYER spent a couple of weeks in a Southern California recording studio earlier this month, recording three new songs for a brand new album expected out summer 2009. A clip of the guys recording one of the brand new songs, "Psychopathy Red", a Jeff Hanneman-penned track that gives a chilling look into the twisted mind of Andrei Chikatilo, a notorious Russian serial killer, can be viewed at Spin.com. Slayer is the granddaddy of speed metal, and along with Anthrax, Metallica, and Megadeth, is one of the heavy seminal bands to plow its way out the '80s and into critical respectability. Often tabbed the world's fastest band, Slayer came together in Huntington Beach, California, in the early 80s, made up of singer/bassist Tom Araya, shredding guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King, and Dave Lombardo, one of the loudest, craziest drummers of all time. They hit the big time with the Rick Rubin-produced Reign in Blood, which came out in 1986 and immediately cemented Slayer in the upper echelons of speed metal. Angry, brash, nasty and fast as hell, the band has churned out several other speed metal classics, including South of Heaven and Season in the Abyss, generally infused with lyrics that represent the dark side of life and imagery that goes right along with it. Lombardo has left and returned on more than one occasion, but got back behind the kit for Slayer's most recent release, 2006's Christ Illusion, a return to form and an vital entry into the speed metal genre.
Are they Nazi sympathizers? Satanists? Occult worshipers? Probably not - they're just a bunch of long-haired headbangers who read a lot of weird stuff. Regardless, Slayer has been accused of all of those and plenty more over the years. Plenty of labels haven't wanted to release their work, advertisements have been banned, as each record seemed to create its own controversy - most recently, "Jihad" from Christ Illusion, which deals with 9/11 from the point of view of a terrorist, brought the band negative attention. Still, Slayer continues to push buttons intelligently, and has carried on an entertaining, long-term feud with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. If all of that isn't enough, the band has Dave Lombardo, one of the greatest drummers of all time.
