This kick ass Alternative metal band was formed by Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. Sixx A.M consists of Nikki Sixx on bass guitar and vocals, D.J Ashba on guitar, drums and percussion and James Michael on Vocals and guitar. Nikki Sixx was born as Frank Feranna in San Jose, CA. in 1958 and grew up in Seattle with his grandmother. At age 17, he sold his guitars and took a bus to Los Angeles, where he began hanging out in local clubs and playing in local bands. He always knew he wanted to be a rock star and had dreams of making it big. In 1981, he found Motley Crue with friend, Tommy Lee. Motley Crue was one of the biggest rock bands of the 1980’s. Today he’s a family man with Numerous Projects in the works Nikki Sixx says the making of the album, “Heroin Diarys” wasn’t a conscious effort. He and friends James Michael and D.J Ashba have been playing and writing together for years and over time, without ever securing a record contract for the release of the album, they came up with some kick ass music to compliment his book, “Heroin Diary’s: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock star”. . Sixx A.M was an instant success and people went crazy after hearing their first song, Life is Beautiful. The C.D kicks ass! If you like Life is Beautiful, you should definitely check out the C.D, the songs are almost mesmerizing! There’s something so beautiful about the songs, you can’t help but relate to them and they’ll have you listening to them again and again. The book’s very interesting and it may be the only book that has its very own soundtrack. The book itself offers an unflinching and utterly gripping look at his own descent into drug addiction. “The Heroin Diary’s” takes readers along on one of the most breathless and harrowing roller coaster rides in the history of music. It pulls you in and gives you an exclusive look at triumph and tragedy, it’s every bit as explosive and the musical odyssey it chronicles. If u haven’t already checked out the book, I would definitely recommend checking it out. Sixx A.M sounds nothing like the music that capulted Nikki Sixx into the limelight in Motley Crew, but instead it has it’s own unique sound and flare. Sixx A.M came out in 2007 and made their live debut at Crash Mansion on July 16, 2007, where they played 5 songs from the album, “The Heroin Diaries”.
