Shinedown has been around since 2002 and they're one kick ass band that knows how to rock out! Shinedown consists of Brett Smith on vocals, Jasin Todd on Guitar, Berry Kerch on the drums, and Zach Myers on bass. Shinedown originated in Jacksonville, Florida. The band was formed in early 2002 by Brett Smith, Jasin Todd, Brad Stewart and Berry Kerch. Atlantic heard them and signed Shinedown in 2002. Original bassist Brad Stewart was later replaced with Zach Myers after touring with the band for a rockin' 3 years. On July 13, 2003 Shinedown came out with their first album, "Leave a Whisper." The album kicked ass and their songs "Fly from the Inside" and "45" were loved by all the rock fans and artists themselves. The hit song was played numerous times on radio stations around the world. Their first album "Leave a Whisper" was later re-released on June 15, 2004 to capitalize the new strength of a new single they were putting out, which was "Simple Man" a cover song origionally by Lynard Skinnard. They dedicated the song to Dimebag Derrill who died in a club shooting in 2004. He just happend to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. On September 21, 2005 the band recognised for being so kick ass that they were picked to open for rock legend Van Halen, by Van Halen himself! Van Halen wanted a kick ass rock band and chose Shinedown after hearing their hit song, "Leave a Whisper"! In October 2005 the band released their second album, "Us and Them" backed by their hit single "Save Me" which fans went crazy over! It was played on every radio station you could imagine, people demanded the song and that it be played! The song made it to #1 on the music charts with-in the first week of releasing it and maintained to stay at #1 for a solid 12 weeks in a row! In 2005 the band released a live DVD called, "Live From the Inside" which contained a full length Shinedown concert held at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The band co-headlined the SnoCore Tour with Seether, Flyleaf and Halestorm in 2006, which was headlined by the Equinox Tour which Shinedown headlined with Trapt. Shinedown has opened for many rock legends including, Van Halen, Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Rob Zombie and the list goes on. After playing several off date shows in the summer of 2007, Shinedown is back in the studio recording new material. They started working on their next album on September 20, 2007. They plan to finish it up around the end of January 2008 or the early part of February 2008, with a new single hitting the air in the first week of March. The new tour should start with the band playing a few festival shows before the big album release, which is said to be released on May 6, 2008. The tour will kick ass, all their albums seem to hit #1 right off the bat and with songs so powerful they pull you in and leave you begging for more. These guys are rock legends, they know how to rock out and their songs kick ass! Plus, they were specifically chosen to perform with rock legend Van Halen by Van Halen himself, and how many bands can you say that about?
