After 10 years as a force at the forefront
of the alternative rock scene, Papa Roach returns in 2009, revitalized
and ready to bring their infectious anthems to scores of fans around
the world! Their fifth studio album, Metamorphosis, is due out March 24th via DGC/Interscope Records and boasts a wealth of growth and bravado. Metamorphosis was
written at the legendary Paramour Mansion and recorded at NRG Recording
Studios. The album was co-produced by Jay Baumgardener (311,
Evanescence, Incubus) and Papa Roach. James Michael (Mötley Crüe,
Sixx:A.M.) also co-produced five tracks. Metamorphosis is
the band's Rock record of the decade, securing their legacy, showcasing
their songwriting and maturity while remaining raw and anthemic - Metamorphosis is rife with ballsy, in-your-face rock honesty.
The first official single, "Lifeline," is already burning up radio
playlists across North America, rising quickly in the top 20 at both
Active and Alternative Rock radio. To launch this song in its truest
form, the band filmed "Lifeline" live during their performance at Crüe
Fest 2008 in Toronto, Canada. Recorded entirely in one take, with no
overdubs, the video features the power of Papa Roach live and shows
that they are one of the few bands with the balls to share their true
live sound with the world.
On February 4th, the band teamed up with music video director, Chris
Sims (QOTSA, Jimmy Eat World) in Long Beach, CA to shoot the official
music video for "Lifeline." The official video is expected to be
available towards the end of February. The song, "Lifeline" is
available for purchase on iTunes and other digital stores, as well as
in an exclusive two song CD single at Hot Topic. Papa Roach is
currently on the road with Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry and Saving
Abel throughout February and March. They then head across the Atlantic
for their first European tour in 2 ½ years.
According to The Pulse of Radio, PAPA ROACH returned to the airwaves in a big way this week with their new single "Lifeline", the first official single from the band's upcoming fifth major label album, "Metamorphosis". The new record follows a tough stretch of time in which the band faced a lot of complicated, disappointing situations including; disappointing sales for their last album, 2006's "The Paramour Sessions", parted ways with both their management team and their drummer, and were also taken to court and sued by the latter.
Frontman Jacoby Shaddix told The Pulse of Radio that "Lifeline"
is about getting through that turmoil. "You know, with this record, it
was kind of like desperate times for this band 'cause we didn't know
what was happening and this song is about that." he said.
"It's about just looking for that one, like, light of hope and we got
it. The song gave it to us, so it's definitely a
powerful, strong song. We play it live and it goes off so well."
PAPA ROACH has set March 24, 2009 as the release date for their next album: "Metamorphosis".
The band will join AVENGED SEVENFOLD and BUCKCHERRY on the road beginning Wednesday night (January 28) in West Valley City, Utah.
Former PAPA ROACH drummer Dave Buckner
filed a lawsuit against the band late last year, claiming that he has
not been receiving his fair share of the group's earnings. PAPA ROACH permanently split with Buckner at the beginning of 2008, following a year-long period in which he went to rehab twice. He was replaced by ex-UNWRITTEN LAW drummer Tony Palermo.
Professionally filmed video footage of PAPA ROACH's performance of "Lifeline"
on August 28, 2008 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada's Molson Amphitheater was filmed. The clip was shot during last summer's Crüe Fest 2008 tour which was headlined by MÖTLEY CRÜE and also featured BUCKCHERRY, TRAPT and SIXX: A.M. No alcohol was being sold at the show after the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario suspended the liquor license of the Molson Amphitheater during the concert.
The footage of PAPA ROACH performing the song, "Lifeline" can be viewed below:
That song's brand spankin' new and it's off the hook! Love it, you know you loved it too! They were rockin' out, that video was bad ass! That was Papa Roach with their new and latest video: Hollywood Whore from their forthcoming album Metamorphosis (due in early 2009 on DCG/Interscope Records)
