LACUNA COIL: 'Shallow Life' Artwork Unveiled!

LACUNA COIL, will release their much-anticipated new album, "Shallow Life", via Century Media Records.

I'm so excited and can't wait for the album to come out! I'm not a huge fan of female singers, but Christina Scabia is one hell of a singer! That girl nails every song she does and she just has an amazing almost memorizing voice. I love it!

"Shallow-Life" will be released on the following dates:

"Shallow Life" was recorded in September/October 2008 at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, California with big time producer, Don Gilmore! Gilmore's worked with a bunch of big names including: LINKIN PARK, TRAPT, GOOD CHARLOTTE, PEARL JAM and that's just to name a few.

LACUNA COIL: New Track Leaked!

Spellbound is the new track from the un-released LACUNA COIL album "Shallow Life"

The album is set to be released via Century Media Records on April 20, 2009 in Europe and right here in the USA on April 21, 2009!

The album was recorded in September/October 2008 at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, California with producer Don Gilmore who's worked with other successful rock bands like: Linkin Park, Trapt, Good Charolette, PEARL JAM and that's just to name a few.

Commented female singer Cristina Scabbia: "'Shallow Life' is a natural metamorphosis from within the band; we explored different musical territories while maintaining our own style. A mix of old and new, fast and slow... light and dark. The album production is incredibly powerful and has a beautiful purity to it. Hopefully listeners will feel the same sort of connection that we have to these songs. It would be great to think that we have produced songs that will make anybody either think, smile or cry. 'Shallow Life' has forced us to challenge ourselves. It represents the way we see ourselves in the days we live in through truth, love and lies."

Added male singer Andrea Ferro: "'Shallow Life' is just a mirror of what you see out there, it's something you should first see inside of you. It's a new cycle of songs and it's more clearly ourselves."

"Shallow Life" will be LACUNA COIL's first concept album as all the songs address superficiality and the discontent and unhappiness it can cause. "It's more against the superficial lifestyle in general, but not regarding celebrities," singer Andrea Ferro previously told Rock Sound magazine. "You can talk about celebrities, but you can also talk about everyday people. It's more a reflection on life itself, and especially on the way you lead your life in a superficial way."

Lacuna Coil: Unique and Intriguing!

Lacuna Coil is one of few rock bands who successfully incorporate a female vocalist into their style. The goth-metal group formed in Milan, Italy back in 1994 with bassist/keyboardist Marco Coti Zelati, guitarist Cristiano Migliore, drummer Cristiano Mozaati and co-vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro. They were initially called Sleep of Right, but later changed their name to Ethereal before making Lacuna Coil final.

After releasing an independent EP, Century Media signed them to their label in 1997. They dropped a self-titled EP a year later and in 1999, they unleashed their studio debut, In A Reverie. When they went on tour, they recruited a second guitarist in Marco Biazzi.

Never to slow down, they released an EP a year later before dropping their second full-length album, Unleashed Memories. In 2002, they released their fifth consecutive disc with new material with their third studio album, Comalies. Their single "Swamped" would enter radio rotation and their video was aired on Headbanger's Ballroom, thus introducing the goth-metal group to the mainstream.

Lacuna Coil took four years before putting out their fourth studio album, Karmacode. Evidently, they toured extensively and took a lot on the main stage of Ozzfest in 2006. While the band continues to perform their music, Cristina Scabbia tries finding time to write her advice column with Revolver Magazine.

Aside from the gorgeous looks of Cristina Scabbia, Lacuna Coil has an admirable work ethic, releasing five records with new material every year (from 1998 to 2002). Though their appearance and music may be labeled as gothic, Lacuna Coil provides more energy and metal than most bands deliver nowadays. Also, their music has become more accepted amongst the airwaves. On their 2006 effort Karmacode, Lacuna Coil created a stellar album with unforgettable songs and melodies, like getting to know someone in "Closer" or the warmth of someone being there in "Enjoy the Silence." They also express religious views in "Fragments of Faith." Seems like they hit every subject matter with force.
