FILTER Coming Out w/a "BEST OF ALBUM" march 31, 2009

Filter's back! They're releasing a "Best of Filter" album through their record company, Rhino Records on March 31, 2009!

The album will be called "The Very Best Things (1995-2008)" and will feature all of your favorite Filter songs all wrapped up on one simple album! It will also include some never before heard bonus footage thrown on there as well. The album will be released March 31, 2009 for the suggested retail price of: $11.98 (CD) and $9.99 (digital) so put your money in that piggy bank and start saving!

"The Very Best Things (1995-2008)" will feature 14 of your favorite studio recordings, rare radio edits and a scattering of soundtrack contributions including, 5 tracks from the bands follow up debut (1998's "Title of Record") debut. "I'm Not The Only One", and the radio edits for the singles "Welcome To The Fold" and the smash hit "Take A Picture". Taken from 2002's "The Amalgamut", the collection also features "The Only Way (Is The Wrong Way)" and the single edit version of "Where Do We Go From Here".

It begins with their smash hit, "Hey Man Nice Shot" and ends with their song, "Thanks Bro". The album really focus's on songs that reflect the evolution of the band's music, including "Soldiers Of Misfortune", from their 2008 album "Anthems For The Damned".

In addition to its studio albums, FILTER was also known for writing songs that appeared on a number of popular soundtracks including: "The Very Best Things" gathers several of those soundtrack songs, including: the savage intensity of "Jurrasitol" from "The Crow – City Of Angels"; "(Can't You) Trip Like I Do" the massive hit from the band's collaboration with THE CRYSTAL METHOD for "Spawn: The Album"; as well as "One (Is The Loneliest Number)" and "Thanks Bro", two songs recorded for different "X-Files" albums.

After a six-year hiatus Richard Patrick brought FILTER back to active duty with the release of the politically charged and critically acclaimed album "Anthems For The Damned", which was released last Spring. The band followed up with the November digital-only release "Remixes For The Damned", which features brand-new remixes of various tracks from "Anthems". FILTER is planning a hardcore tour and he couldn't be happier about getting the band back to gether and getting on the road to see all his long awaiting fans. The tour will include a string of U.S. tour dates in the spring, with full details to be announced shortly.

Multi-instrumentalists Richard Patrick (Fun Fact: brother of Terminator 2's Robert Patrick!) and Brian Liesegang met through a mutual acquaintance in 1993. Patrick had just finished playing guitar for Nine Inch Nails' first large tour. The two hit it off and began recording together in that most rock n roll of cities, Cleveland, Ohio. They released Short Bus in 1995, which spawned their first big hit, "Hey Man Nice Shot." Liesegang left in 1997 due to the ever-popular "creative differences" (does anyone leave due to uncreative differences?), but Patrick soldiered on solo, releasing Title of Record in 1999, containing "Take A Picture," Filter's biggest hit to date. Amalgamut followed in 2002, but a tour was cut short by Patrick's entry into rehab. Recently, Patrick has set aside work on the next Filter album to form Army of Anyone with former Stone Temple Pilot members Robert and Dean DeLeo.
Filter have always excelled at heavy but ear-friendly industrial pop, whether it's the aggressive, slow-burn-and-explode of "Hey Man Nice Shot, the destroy-the-world attack of "Welcome to the Fold," the contemplative dynamics of "Take A Picture," or the postitively heartbreaking breakup ballad "Miss Blue." While definitely taking a few cues from former boss Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails (Patrick's voice at times is a dead ringer for Trent), they have sometimes outperformed NIN, as Title of Record was a much more accessible record than Reznor's The Fragile, released the same year.
