Fifth One Down is a new and emerging hard rock band that came together in Huntington Beach California in 2007. I came across their song, “Better Day” which instantly caught my attention; with heavy hitting drums, driving guitar riffs, front lined by memorable melodic vocals that will stay in your head long after the songs over. The song’s great and you can’t help but like the songs that follow on their debut self titled album: “FIFTH ONE DOWN”.
Fifth One Downs debut responds through dynamic choruses, booming verses, unflinching consistency and delivery, as well as a distinguishable duo of introspective lyrics.
Ricardo consistently turns in a better than average performance on vocals and takes the throne as the lead singer of Fifth One Down. He can yell when need be, sing soft vocals on the melodic songs and his sound just perfectly blends in with the sound of the band. The lineup includes, Ricardo on vocals, Jeff beating the shit out of the drums, Dave on guitar and vocals, Johnny killing it out on guitar and Nick rockin’ out bass.
The bands sound and lyrics are consistent through out their demo they’ve put together. The demo features infectious songs like: “Cunl” “Hallow Soul” and “Better Day”; which are the band’s most memorable songs on their demo. The good news is that the tracks that follow are just as good as the ones that precede them. The debut is sought to dig a little deeper than most, without succumbing to the conventionally stale implementation of shock tactics to convey their point. The Debut E.P. offers a glance into their vision, but it’s their live performance that truly exhibits the energy and passion that is Fifth One Down. Though they’re not currently signed, they are on the hunt for the right label; with scorching melodies that drive throughout to their energy filled live performance, Fifth One Down is a band that slices, dices and entices. They manage to successfully fuse nu-metal and modern rock to bring something new and fresh to the table.
Their sound is sure to get Killswitch Engage, Sevendust and Saliva fans foaming at the mouth as well as Buckcherry and Trapt fans alike.
