Fallout Boy, Creating Memorable songs One Day at a Time

The quartet, Fall Out Boy, is made up of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley, and guitarist Joe Trohman and came out of the hardcore underground scene in Chicago. Their hardcore roots seem a bit ironic only because the band has found mainstream success with their pop punk with a dash of emo songs, but their underlying drum beats and guitar riffs still showcase their roots. The band had several experimental debuts (one self-released demo and one split album with Project Rocket) before the official Grave was released in 2003. The 2005 release of From Under the Cork brought the band mainstream success reaching the Billboard's Top Ten and great radio and video success with their singles "Dance, Dance" and "Sugar, we're goin down".
Bands like The All American Rejects, Yellowcard, and Fall Out Boy are bringing back a punk sound that had taken a small hiatus from the charts. Music with catchy hooks, singable chorus', and an overall feeling of good times are always refreshing when you turn on the radio. Songs like "Dance, Dance" that once you hear it, you've already learned all the words and will be singing it to yourself for the next three days. Creating those kind of memorable songs isn't as easy as one would think...and FOB should be thanked for their work.
