Earshot’s an alternative rock band that came together in Los Angeles, CA in 1999 and they’ve been kickin’ ass ever since!
The current lineup includes Wil Martin with his killer voice on vocals and killin’ it on guitar, Scott Kihler and Travis Arnold rockin’ out on guitar, Daren Pfeifer beating the shit out of the drums each time they play a show and Billy Blair kickin’ ass on bass.
Since 1999, they’ve released 3 killer albums; including: “Letting Go”, “Two” and most recently, “The Silver Lining” which was released August 26, 2008.
EARSHOT signed with Warner Brother’s Records in 2001 and they were pumped to get in the Studio to get to work on their album. They were in the studio day and night completing their album; which they completed and released in 2002. Their debut album “Letting Go” featured killer songs like the massive monster hit “Get Away” which peaked at number 4 on the charts almost immediately after its release and stayed in the top 100 for over 60 weeks)!! Yes, 60 straight weeks in a row people and how many songs can you say that about? It also featured the song, “Not Afraid” which also did well on the radio scene.
In 2004 the band released “Two” which was their 2nd album and featured the bands killer breakthrough hit, “Wait”;
which was featured on the Madden NFL 2005 video game soundtrack and on the MX vs. ATV Unleashed video game soundtrack. It was also featured in the DVD Tampa Bay Lightning 2004 Stanley Cup Champions! The song topped at #1 with-in weeks of its release date and If that’s not enough; everyone was diggin’ the song and they couldn’t play it enough on the radio! The request lines were ringing off the hook and radio personalities were all about getting the song out there for the fans and the fans couldn’t get enough of it!
Soon after came their follow up single “Someone” which was all over the radio, while the song "Headstrong" was featured in the motion picture Queen of the Damned. After months of touring with Staind, Kid Rock and Stone Temple Pilots, "Get Away" made it’s way to radio and they returned home.
Earshot returned to the studio in late 2005 after spending much of that year on the road. They soon after learned that they were being dropped by Warner Brothers Records which gave them a stronger determination to get back in the music scene. “We were essentially counted out by many. Our departure from Warner Brothers Records only added to our determination not to let corporate decisions determine our artistic and creative voice. After all, that’s what rock’s really all about; believing in your-self, overcoming adversity and taking that chance when the odds are against you” said vocalist Wil Martin. I couldn’t have said it better myself. With that being said, being dropped from Warner Brothers made these guys work harder, their bond as a band became stronger and they were determined to write, create song ideas and make their way back to the top one way or another.
They kept on playing and stayed strong with their performances and in early 2007 they were noticed by Indegoot/Fontana/Universal Recordings, soon after they signed to the label and began working on their 3rd album, “The Silver Lining”; which is their latest to date and was produced by Brian Garcia and co-produced by the one and only, Wil Martin. Tracks on the album include “Missunderstood” which is already climbing the charts, “Closer”, “Pushing to Shove”, “Wasted”, “Hate Me”, “Go” and “Sometimes”.
The new album features 48 minutes of hard-hitting, heavy guitars, hooks that will leave you mesmerized and unforgettable song’s that will stay in your head for days after they’re over. It’s an 11 song collection that is sure to leave you with the “wow” effect.
I’ve personally listened to “Missunderstood” a million times and can see why Indegoot/Fontana/Universal Recordings was so quick to pick up the band. It’s not one breath short of amazing!
If you haven’t heard it, it’s definitely worth checking out!
