Drowning Pool is a kick ass alt/metal band that knows how to rock out! These guys are hard rock main-stays which came together in Dallas, Texas in 2001. These guys know how to rock and have some amazing albums under their belt! Their first album, Sinner was certified platinum within six months after being released! The album was a huge hit and their first single Bodies was aired all over the place, from Fuse to MTV to every single rock radio station you could imagine. The bands current lineup includes, Ryan McCombs dishing it out on lead vocals, C.J Pierce killin’ it on lead guitar and vocals, Stevie Benton kickin’ ass on bass guitar and vocals and Mike Luce rockin’ out on the drums and also on vocals. Every single one of these guys is on vocals, which is pretty damn impressive! They originally signed with Wind-Up Records in 2001 and took the stage at Ozzfest that same year. After Drowning Pool took the stage, everyone went crazy, cheering and screaming and begging for more! They were the talk of the town from L.A to NYC and everywhere in between. They had everyone in the music industry as well as fans and radio stations world wide talking about the next big thing known as Drowning Pool. Then on August 14, 2002 tragedy struck, when the bands lead singer Dave Williams was found dead inside their tour bus. The autopsy concluded that he suffered from a form of heart disease. The band was distraught and had no idea what they were going to do or where they would go from there. It was one of the most difficult things they’ve ever had to deal with as a band, but they pulled it together. With that being said, that alone would have destroyed most bands but Drowning Pool was determined to stay together, grow and get through it and in the end; it just brought them closer and made them stronger as a band as well as individually. They had a passion to succeed and for them it was about the music. If they could get through that, they could get through anything. After all the obstacles they faced, they came together as a band and In 2003 they found a new lead singer; Jason ‘Gong’ Jones who took place of Dave Williams. They then released the album Desensitized in 2004. Jason’s departure from Drowning Pool was publicly announced on June 14, 2005, due to irreconcilable differences. Then in spring of 2006, Drowning Pool announced that they had parted ways with Wind-Up Records. As October rolled around, they came out with a killer single; “No More” which was their first track without McCombs on vocals. That tune was so kick ass, it was announced to be on the "Saw 3 soundtrack" which is huge! On February 26, 2007 it was announced that Drowning Pool had signed a new deal with a major label known as Eleven Seven Music. They also got a new management company known as 10th Street Management. They were looking for a label and a management company that would be behind them 100% and with their new found label and management company, they found just that. They’ve already released 3 albums, their most recent being Full Circle; which was released on August 7, 2007. Two songs off that album were produced by Funny Farm Records, owned by the phenomenal Motley Crew bassist Nikki Sixx and former Beautiful Creatures guitarist DJ Ashba. The remaining tracks were recorded with big wig producer; Ben Schigel at the Dallas based January Sound Studio. The album also includes one of my favorite songs, Enemy which was a huge hit topping the charts as soon as the album was released. This is by far their best album yet and they continue to kick ass on major tours world wide. They’ve done some killer shows and gained an enormous fan base with extensive touring; we’re talkin’ huge shows like, Ozzfest and if you’re at Ozzfest sharing the stage with rock legend Ozzy Osborne you must be doing something right. Since signing with their new label Eleven Seven Music, they’ve already toured with some of rocks biggest names in the industry, we're talking phenomenal bands, including Egypt Central, Sixx AM, Buck Cherry, The Exies and their most recent extensive tour was with rock band, Saliva. They’re all about getting out there and giving it all they've got, they were performing 6 days a wk and putting on some awesome shows when on tour with Saliva; if that's not dedication..I don't know what is. With amazing songs, albums and performances, you can’t help but notice Drowning Pool as a dedicated killer rock band that knows how to rock out!
