Dismember has made a long career based on delivering mind-numbingly aggressive Scandinavian Metal and doing so with an enthusiasm seldom seen. The band came together in 1988 in Sweden, led by vocalist Robert Senneback. The group would go through some lineup changes until finally emerging with a debut album in 1991. The LP was a critical success, and would launch a career that would seem them garnering fame and acclaim throughout the 90 and into the early 21st century. Their most recent album, God That Never Was, came out in 2006.
Scandinavian metal has a reputation for being dark and brooding. Dismember takes that reputation and infuses it with pure gasoline-their music is more menacing than brooding, focused outward rather than inward. They have tremendous reserves of energy at their disposal and they manage to channel it into their music with a force and fury few can reckon with. Their continued success in the 21st century means they must be doing something right, and their hordes or angry fans wouldn't have it any other way.
