AVENGED SEVENFOLD INTERVIEW!

Indiana's 103.9 "The Bear" radio station conducted an interview with AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarists Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates right before they didn't make it to their Fort Wayne, Indiana show.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD was due to take stage in Fort Wayne, Indiana and they didn't make it. According to a statement released by the band, AVENGED SEVENFOLD was forced to call off the Fort Wayne show because vocalist M. Shadows "came down with a vicious case of food poisoning which required him to be hospitalized! Yes hospitalized, so it must have been a pretty damn bad case of food poisoning at that! The band feels terrible they were unable to play, as they had really been looking forward to seeing their fans in Ft. Wayne." They went on to say: "What we can tell you is that it took 3 IV bags before [M. Shadows] could leave the hospital." Talk about insane!

Last year, September 9, 2009 to be exact, AVENGED SEVENFOLD came out with a kick ass DVD/CD package: "Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough". The live DVD features the band's April 10, 2008 hometown show at the Long Beach Arena; headlining the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour, while the CD contains previously unreleased b-sides that were recorded during the making of "Avenged Sevenfold", plus various covers, and other never-before-heard material. The DVD was directed by Core Entertainment's Rafa Alcantara, who also worked on the band's critically acclaimed 2007 road documentary "All Excess".

That's what i'm talking about! There's a band who doesn't sit around with their thumb up their butt crying about how people are downloading their music for free. Their motto, "learn from it" and that's just what they're doing! They're in touch with what's really going on and they're finding other ways to keep their cash flow flowing! Tour their ass off, check! Coming out with their very own DVD with exclusive never before seen footage, check! Plus they're still rockin' their kiler t-shirts at Hot Topic; which I have by the way, incase you were wondering. What's in store next for these bad bays...a cologne...clothing line? Guess we'll have to wait and see!

Avenged Sevenfold, Still Rockin' Out!

This California five-piece has actually been around since 1999, cranking out hardcore and metalcore. You're forgiven, however, if you're only familiar with them thanks to "Bat Country," their sonic ode to gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, and subsequent singles from their third album, 2005's City of Evil. The band won MTV's Best New Artist Award in 2006, despite the fact that they weren't really new. The more melodic sound that distinguished City of Evil from previous albums was new, though, and the mainstream metal scene sat up and took notice. While vocalist M. Shadows has says in interviews that Avenged Sevenfold (aka. A7X) is not a religious band, Biblical themes and references are a recurring theme in the group's music. Even the name Avenged Sevenfold is a reference to divine punishment from the book of Genesis. Along with Shadows (Matthew Saunders), A7X is made up of lead guitarist Synyster Gates (Brian Haner Jr.), rhythm guitarist Zacky Vengeance (Zachary Baker), bassist Johnny Christ (Jonathan Seward) and drummer The Rev (James Sullivan). In addition to radio and video air time, A7X has also gained exposure recently via video games and other media. Singles from City of Evil have been featured in a handful of games produced by Electronic Arts, including NHL 2004 and 2006, Madden 2004 and 2006, SSX on Tour, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout Revenge. Their single "Beast and the Harlot" is featured on Guitar Hero II and the track "Burn It Down" is on the soundtrack of the horror film Saw III.
Awwww, yeah. Hard to say which impressed us more: vocalist M. Shadows' blistering rendition of the band's breakout hit "Bat Country" during Fuse TV's horror-movie awards ceremony, or the grinding Suicide Girls that accompanied the tune. After several years of plugging away with a hardcore sound and little commercial success, Avenged Sevenfold finally got theirs with the 2005 release of their third album, City of Evil. If the combination of balls-to-the-wall heavy wrapped in soaring, hummable melody doesn't blow your mind entirely, it's likely to leave you thinking, "Huh. I didn't realize kids today still wanted to grow up to be Iron Maiden."
