Drowning Pool is a kick ass alt/metal band that knows how to rock out! These guys are hard rock main-stays which came together in Dallas, Texas in 2001. These guys know how to rock and have some amazing albums under their belt! Their first album, Sinner was certified platinum within six months after being released! The album was a huge hit and their first single Bodies was aired all over the place, from Fuse to MTV to every single rock radio station you could imagine. The bands current lineup includes, Ryan McCombs dishing it out on lead vocals, C.J Pierce killin’ it on lead guitar and vocals, Stevie Benton kickin’ ass on bass guitar and vocals and Mike Luce rockin’ out on the drums and also on vocals. Every single one of these guys is on vocals, which is pretty damn impressive! They originally signed with Wind-Up Records in 2001 and took the stage at Ozzfest that same year. After Drowning Pool took the stage, everyone went crazy, cheering and screaming and begging for more! They were the talk of the town from L.A to NYC and everywhere in between. They had everyone in the music industry as well as fans and radio stations world wide talking about the next big thing known as Drowning Pool. Then on August 14, 2002 tragedy struck, when the bands lead singer Dave Williams was found dead inside their tour bus. The autopsy concluded that he suffered from a form of heart disease. The band was distraught and had no idea what they were going to do or where they would go from there. It was one of the most difficult things they’ve ever had to deal with as a band, but they pulled it together. With that being said, that alone would have destroyed most bands but Drowning Pool was determined to stay together, grow and get through it and in the end; it just brought them closer and made them stronger as a band as well as individually. They had a passion to succeed and for them it was about the music. If they could get through that, they could get through anything. After all the obstacles they faced, they came together as a band and In 2003 they found a new lead singer; Jason ‘Gong’ Jones who took place of Dave Williams. They then released the album Desensitized in 2004. Jason’s departure from Drowning Pool was publicly announced on June 14, 2005, due to irreconcilable differences. Then in spring of 2006, Drowning Pool announced that they had parted ways with Wind-Up Records. As October rolled around, they came out with a killer single; “No More” which was their first track without McCombs on vocals. That tune was so kick ass, it was announced to be on the "Saw 3 soundtrack" which is huge! On February 26, 2007 it was announced that Drowning Pool had signed a new deal with a major label known as Eleven Seven Music. They also got a new management company known as 10th Street Management. They were looking for a label and a management company that would be behind them 100% and with their new found label and management company, they found just that. They’ve already released 3 albums, their most recent being Full Circle; which was released on August 7, 2007. Two songs off that album were produced by Funny Farm Records, owned by the phenomenal Motley Crew bassist Nikki Sixx and former Beautiful Creatures guitarist DJ Ashba. The remaining tracks were recorded with big wig producer; Ben Schigel at the Dallas based January Sound Studio. The album also includes one of my favorite songs, Enemy which was a huge hit topping the charts as soon as the album was released. This is by far their best album yet and they continue to kick ass on major tours world wide. They’ve done some killer shows and gained an enormous fan base with extensive touring; we’re talkin’ huge shows like, Ozzfest and if you’re at Ozzfest sharing the stage with rock legend Ozzy Osborne you must be doing something right. Since signing with their new label Eleven Seven Music, they’ve already toured with some of rocks biggest names in the industry, we're talking phenomenal bands, including Egypt Central, Sixx AM, Buck Cherry, The Exies and their most recent extensive tour was with rock band, Saliva. They’re all about getting out there and giving it all they've got, they were performing 6 days a wk and putting on some awesome shows when on tour with Saliva; if that's not dedication..I don't know what is. With amazing songs, albums and performances, you can’t help but notice Drowning Pool as a dedicated killer rock band that knows how to rock out!

Today I got to interview one of the most phenomenal rockers in rock history and I was absolutely
thrilled to have Nikki Sixx in the studio. He’s a rock legend from Motley Crue to Sixx AM. He even wrote the
book, “Heroin Diaries” which is a book based on diaries that he actually wrote. It's a very touching, inspiring book, it's a must read if you haven’t
read it. Here’s what Nikki had to say..
JUICY BANDS: “Life Is Beautiful” was a huge hit and lately “Pray For Me” has
been getting a lot of radio and video airplay, since you guys didn’t really
promote the album or have a desire to do so, how did that come about?
NIKKI SIXX:It was a very enjoyable process. A lot of times you have a band,
you have a tour, you have an album, you have a single, you work radio, you work
press. It’s all very planned. But in this case we made a record and leaked the
song out through MySpace. It started to pick up momentum and radio picked up on
it. Then we took it to radio and it ended up being the most added song in the
country and then climbed the charts. We said why? They said it’s moving, people
like it, it’s a great piece of music. We just formed the band Sixx A.M. because
people had to go buy the album by somebody. It’s not me, and it’s not James and
it’s not D.J., it’s all of us as producers and songwriters. I was driving down
the road yesterday and looked down at my Sirius radio, and it said Sixx A.M.,
“Life Is Beautiful.” I said, how is that possible?
JUICY BANDS: Before Sixx A.M, I’ve never in my life heard James sing
before, but he’s definitely got an amazing voice on him. I know he’s done a lot
of producing and behind the scenes stuff for a lot of different artists, so how’d
you bring out the singer in him and actually get him to join in the band?
NIKKI SIXX: He does do a lot of behind the scenes stuff. He’s a phenomenal
writer, a phenomenal producer, an amazing engineer. D.J. is equally talented as
a writer and guitar player and producer. It was effortless. It wasn’t about us,
it was about the song, the journey. It so exciting, so free. We’ve all known
each other for years, we had an amazing time, and planned on doing it again
because it was so fun and we just formed together and gave it all we got.
JUICY BANDS: So a while back I was hearing that Sixx A.M wasn’t planning
on touring but now you guys are actually planning a tour starting in July so I’m
excited about that, how’d that come about?
NIKKI SIXX: When we formed the band, we didn’t plan on being on the radio, didn’t
plan on touring, it just wasn’t an interest to us, but the demand was high so
we thought we would give it a shot. Nothing to major just a little here and
there with some good bands, a simple one month tour and that’s that. We are
planning on playing some television shows and maybe doing some other small
stuff as well.
JUICY BANDS: They’re making a movie out of the Motley Crue book “The Dirt”.
Have you had any interest from movie studios about your book, The Heroin
NIKKI SIXX: It’s interesting. The phone has been ringing. I have to pinch
myself. It’s really affecting people emotionally. It’s phenomenal that you can
do something positive and still stand up and say, “I’m rock and roll.” I look
it, I walk it, I talk it, I live it, I breathe it.
JUICY BANDS: How did the idea of turning your diaries into a book come
NIKKI SIXX: It was a long process because the original feeling was to publish
those diaries based on my belief that I could raise awareness of this global
epidemic and what it’s like, whether you’re down in the streets or in a private
jet. It’s an epidemic and a problem. I wanted to share my experience, and by
getting through that experience share a little hope, a little faith that people
can get out of it. That’s where it started and it just went from there.
JUICY BANDS: I actually sat down and read the book and it was phenomenal. I
think you’re a very strong person for coming out and dealing with everything that you've been through and taking something so personal and sharing
it with the world. I know a lot of other people around the globe appreciate the
book as well. Are you planning on coming out and writing any more books based
on anything that you’ve written in the past?
NIKKI SIXX: Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. This was a one time
thing. I think there’s a benefit to this. I know that the stuff from ’81 and
’82 and forming the band and going on tour for the first time is all wonderful
stuff, but it’s personal and I write for personal reasons. Something you never
expect to do is publish something like this. There’s a benefit to publishing
this because I’m exposing myself and exposing an issue. I want to do some good.
It inspired a wonderful soundtrack and accidentally formed a band out of it.
JUICY BANDS: Thank you so much for coming in, you’ve inspired so many people
and it was great to finally meet you. Rock on, you kick ass!
NIKKI SIXX: Hey anytime, you’re awesome. Thanks for having me.
BEST NEW SONG OF 2008: WICKED SOUL BY: ANOTHER BLACK DAY
Another Black Day is one of hard rocks fastest rising acts; the band originated in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2006 and consists of Matt Wilkof killin' it on lead vocals and guitar, Angel Hernandez rockin' it on drums, Das Haas on bass, and Ernesto Paez rockin' out on lead guitar. Each member contributes their own sound and feeling to the music, leaving the end result one of a kind, original and almost memorizing. This four-some came together when Das Haas and Angel Hernandez found Matt in a rag mag and stole kick ass guitarist Ernesto Perez from another band. Put these four together and you have one hell of a rock band! The band’s current line-up was finalized in the summer of 2004 and has been going strong ever since. With countless shows played, two EP’s under their belts (and a full length album which will be released May 20, 2008), constant radio airplay, and a rapidly growing fan base, Another Black Day knows how to rock the fuck out and come out on top. With that being said, the band is gaining recognition and respect amongst their peers and in the music industry worldwide. Another Black Day signed on with Bieler Bros. Records in April 2007. They first started getting plays in Denver because Willie B. from rock station KBPI has a relationship with the bands management company, Mars Management. As soon as he played the hit, people went insane and the phone was ringing off the hook with requests for the new song "Wicked Soul." Their kick ass self-titled debut CD will be released May 20, 2008 and their first single "Wicked Soul" can be heard on every radio station you could imagine and also purchased exclusively in iTunes. Another Black Day’s epic new single, "Wicked Soul" is quickly becoming one of the most talked about new songs in radio. It’s a kick ass song and people can’t get enough of it! In support of their new album these bad boys are currently touring with some major names on the Your Enemy Tour. Headlined by hard-rock mainstays, DROWNING POOL, NONPOINT and Tennessee’s EGYPT CENTRAL, these guys are bound to make an impression in 2008! They will also be playing at the 15th annual Wing Ding with Chevelle, Theory of a Deadman, and Drowning Pool on May 25, 2008 in Rockford, Illinois. These guys know how to kick some serous ass and this is definitely a line up not to be missed! In addition to its early support from radio, Another Black Day has been no stranger to floods of fan support, having “WICKED SOUL” destroy bands such as Neurosonic and Sick Puppies in head-to-head battles. Most recently, “WICKED SOUL” was thrown into battle with radio favorite, RED’s new single, “ALREADY OVER” on the nationally syndicated hard-drive radio. “WICKED SOUL” wasted no time showing why it is building a buzz as a sure-fire hit, grabbing an early lead in the week long battle and defeating RED by over 60% of victory. These guys are in it for the long hall, they’ve got what it takes and have already impressed everyone in the music industry as well as listeners world wide. After becoming one of the most played tracks of 2007 on KBPI in Denver, Another Black Day’s epic, first single, “Wicked Soul” has begun to stake its claim in 2008, climbing charts rapidly and constantly being played on top rock stations; from radio to satalite these guys are kickin’ ass! The band has already been featured on numerous radio shows and has everyone in the rock industry turning heads to check them out.
