Howard Jones, Adam Dutkiewicz, Joel Stroetzel, Mike D'Antonio, Justin Foley are Massachusetts heavy metal band Killswitch Engage. Formed in 1998, they were named after an episode of the X-Files. Roadrunner Records released their self titled album, Killswitch Engage in 2000. 2002 saw the release of the second album, Alive or Just Breathing. The CMJ Music Report then described them as "more addictive than crack cocaine" They then toured with Europe with 36 Crazyfists. Their song "When Darkness Falls" found its way onto the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack. They also appeared at Ozzfest and the MTV2 Headbanger's Ball. "End of Heartache" became the main single for "Resident Evil: Apocalypse" Their latest album, As Daylight Dies was released in 2006. The band recently cancelled three tours due to Dutkiewicz's health problems.
Killswitch Engage defies the industry norm in improving over time as opposed to losing their edge over time. They craft some fairly impressive and tightly executed music. They also have a knack for incorporating the skills, tricks, and sounds of all who came before them. They stand out side by side with bands like Korn in the next generation of metal - continuing the legacy as it should be. Fans are pleased with Killswitch Engage with every new song that pushes the envelope of new metal. Beyond their superior talent, Killswitch Engage's greatest assets are the trends they set. They will likely raise the bar with all the music they release in the future.
