Lit, Rock On!

Lit01
A.Jay Popoff (vocals), brother Jeremy Popoff (guitar), Kevin Baldes (bass), and Allen Shellenberger (drums) first got together as a band in Orange County in 1990, but they went through a few name and style changes before settling on the name of Lit and their signature punk-pop sound in 1996. Their live shows made them a local phenomenon, and they released their independent debut album Tripping The Light Fantastic in 1997. They were soon signed to RCA and released A Place In The Sun in 1999. They went multi-platinum on the strength of singles like "My Own Worst Enemy" and embarked on an extensive touring schedule that found them playing Woodstock 99 and the 2000 Van Warped Tour. Atomic, released in 2001, was not as big a success, and ensuing troubles with RCA led them to leave the label, releasing a self-titled album on Nitrus Records in 2004. They are currently working on a new album.
Lit plays thrashy punk pop that's perfect for jumping around your room on the morning of the best day of your life. Their huge hit "Miserable" is their rocked-out, most upbeat song about being miserably in love ,since the Buzzcock's "Ever Fallen In Love," and it's helped by a video that famously features a miniaturized Lit performing on top of none other than Pamela Anderson (spoiler alert: She hunts and eats them!). But "Four," from A Place In The Sun, is a heartbreaking up-tempo rock song about a relationship on the rocks from his perspective of getting wronged, by the wrong girl.
